Tobias Stähler obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science (Biotechnology) from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Between 2013 and 2017 he deepened his theoretical studies with practical work at the High-Throughput Drug Discovery Unit at Fraunhofer IME ScreeningPort. During his Master thesis at the VIB in Leuven in Belgium he got his first contact with camelid single domain antibodies (VHHs). As he was fascinated about this remarkable research tool and potential therapeutic use, he continued with a PhD at the Institute of Immunology at the UKE Hamburg. In Hamburg he generated antibodies from rats and VHHs from Llama-IgH-transgenicmice and alpacas, which he applied to purinergic signaling research. In 2024 he transitioned from Hamburg to Bonn to join the Core Facility.
Tobias loves to spend time with his family (wife, son and labrador). When there is still some free time once in a while, it is spent on cooking (especially barbecue!), on board games and cycling.
