Orhan received his Bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, USA, in 2019. Fascinated by the endless frontiers of the life sciences, he is currently completing his PhD in ancient population genetics and human evolution at the University of Tübingen, Germany. As a visiting researcher in the Wachten Lab, he explores how recent evolutionary changes in human populations can be studied through biomolecular perturbations such as optogenetics, using primary cilia and cell signalling as a "cellular laboratory." During his stay, he is learning the lab's experimental techniques.
