Bio summary

Christina joined the Meissner lab as a clinician scientist in 2024. She is a physician at the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Duesseldorf and a fellow of the Clinician Scientist Senior Program of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

She completed her medical doctorate at the University of Cologne with a thesis on protein homeostasis and proteostatic networks in podocyte differentiation. In 2019, she started her specialist training at the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital of Münster and became a member of the research group "Experimental Neuroimmunology" (headed by Sven G. Meuth). In 2024, she received a research award from the German Myasthenia Society (DMG) for her research in the field of myasthenia gravis. As part of the Clinician Scientist Fellowship, she joined the Meissner laboratory to investigate clinically relevant biomarkers in autoimmune diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, using mass spectrometry-based methods.
