Anushka Kudaliyanage joined our team in autumn 2020, to support the SARS-CoV-2 research of the COVIMMUNE consortium as leading technician of our iii COVID-19 laboratory. Together with a team of dedicated student assistants he processes blood, gargling water and swabs samples from SARS-CoV-2 infected and long-COVID patients. He is responsible for all maintenance issues of the operating COVID-19 laboratory, sample storage and organization of sample transfer. Mr Kudaliyanage is a trained Biology Laboratory Assistant (BTA) and started in 2008 his working carreer at the University Hospital in Bonn. He expanded his brought spectrum of technical knowledge by studying chemistry with a specialzed focus on materials sciences at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences from 2011-2016. Starting as a student assistant at the Deutsche Nanoschicht GmbH (a company of the BASF holding), he became employed as a planning assistant for the production of superconductors using chemical coating technologies.
